Where to go Stand Up Paddling in Perth

Stand Up Paddling in Perth

Stand Up Paddling comes with a whole range of health benefits – it’s a great cardio workout, works the core, improves balance and increases strength. Best of all, it’s fun and a great way to explore Perth’s many waterways, both on the river and ocean.

Once you’ve mastered the basics there are plenty of ways to progress and become more than a social paddler –  get into racing, try SUP yoga (yes, it’s a thing) or hit the waves.

If you haven’t tried Stand Up Paddling yet, here are some great places around Perth where you can take lessons or hire a board.

West Oz Kiteboarding – Shoalwater Marine Park

Explore the beautiful waters surrounding  Shoalwater Marine on a Stand Up Paddle board. West Oz Kiteboarding has everything from lessons, to sea lion adventure tours around the marine park as well as offering board hire everyday from October to March.

Soul Kitesurfing – Bicton

Lessons and board rentals are available from Bicton Baths and Black Wall Reach both in Bicton. Soul Kitesurfing also has a range of SUP yoga and fitness classes throughout the week located on the Swan River.

Action Sports – Maylands, Hillarys

Action Sports offers lessons at Bardon Park in Maylands, catering for beginners to advanced paddlers. Action Sport has a large range of equipment and will make sure that everyone has the best board and paddle for their weight and height. Special lessons for children under 15 can also be arranged. Action Sports also has paddle and fitness training in Hillarys (these are free for anyone that has purchased a board from Action Sports) and organise Surf Clinics throughout the year.

Stand Up Paddle Perth – Mindarie

Located in Mindarie, in Perth’s north, Stand Up Paddle Perth has individual and groups lessons for beginner to advanced levels. Lessons are held on the calm waters of the Mindarie Harbour. There’s also a great school holiday program for kids and teens.

    1. Hi Lee, thanks for visiting. SUPing would be a great alternative to Mountain Biking, especially during Perth’s hotter months. If you haven’t tried it before, I recommend taking a lesson, to make sure you start off with the right technique. Have fun.
