Eat your way around the world at the South Beach sunset markets

South Beach Sunset Markets

There’s much to love about Summer in Perth. For me though, summer isn’t complete without the South Beach sunset markets.

Held on the beautiful lawn at South Beach in Fremantle, the sunset markets are the perfect way to spend a chilled out evening, relaxing next to the ocean and sampling the wide range of international food on offer.

Thanks to the many food trucks you can literally eat your way around the world with something on offer from every distant corner of the globe. Take your pick from Spanish paella, Moroccan shashuka,  Turkish gozleme, Chilean empanadas and Japanese omelette.

This summer, I was happy to see plenty of new food trucks in the mix. My favourite new discovery so far, has been the Hungarian dumplings. I’ll definitely be back for another plate full next Saturday.

Once you’ve had your savouries, there’s plenty to keep the sweet tooth happy too. Junior likes her Nutella crepes from the La Crepe where the French accents seem real.  I’m always happy to munch on one of the delicious  jam-filled Polish donuts or an icy pole from La Paleta. There’s also the world’s best desserts and their not to be missed Portuguese custard pies and brulees.

For the little ones there’s face painting, as well as Farmer Damian and his entourage of furry and feathery farm animals.

Farmer Damian’s sheep are getting into the festivities too.

For a drink, there’s a pop-up bar on site, along with tables, chairs and live entertainment.

For the real deal though, pack a picnic blanket, chairs and esky and settle in for a relaxed evening of food and friends.

On a hot day, get in early, bring the bathers and have a dip at South Beach beforehand. Whatever you do, definitely don’t miss the sunset.
