The Postie Bike Adventures in the Pilbara Region

The Postie Bike Adventures in the Pilbara Region

The Postie Bike Challenge

What better way to explore the Pilbara region and beyond than on a bright red postie bike – probably the most unsuitable vehicle to attempt such an adventure on.

This is the whole point though. A ridiculously amazing adventure which will challenge both seasoned and unseasoned riders and allow them the opportunity to experience the best of what the west has to offer.

The Red Dog Postie Bike Challenge

The Red Dog Pilbara Postie Bike Challenge is a nine-day action-packed adventure through one of Australia’s most incredible landscapes.

For intrepid adventurers, Daniel Crabbe and Alan Morgan, the idea to create this unique experience has been bubbling away for a few years.

After a similar adventure on the Gibb River Road, they were looking for the next adventure. Something bigger and better. Something that shows off the cultural and natural landscapes of the Pilbara – Red Dog Country.

Postie Bike Challenge

This could be you – exploring the Pilbara on your very own postie bike.

The Red Dog Pilbara Postie Bike Challenge takes place from 13-21st September 2019, with a view to having more tours around different times of the year.

The tour is fully inclusive which means that all you need to do is show up at the start point in Paraburdoo with a bag or suitcase and the rest is done for you. The hip Postie bike, accommodation, food and all side tours and activities along the way are all included.

The challenge has teamed up with a range of Pilbara-based companies which will help provide the exciting activities on the tour.

What to Expect

Paraburdoo to Tom Price

On the first night, you’ll meet your fellow riders and the support crew. You’ll also have a chance to get familiar with your postie bike.

From Paraburdoo, you’ll ride the route of Red Dog, Australia’s favourite four-legged friend.  The route includes a stop at Tom Price for a tour of one of Australia’s largest iron ore mining operation.

Karijini National Park

The next few days will blow your mind with an exciting 3 night stop at the world famous Karijini Eco Retreat. Here you have the option to go canyoning (which we encourage everyone to partake in although it’s not mandatory). There’s also some amazing riding through the park to various waterfalls and gorges.

Millstream – Chichester National Park

The next few days will take you to Millstream-Chichester National Park. Here you can go swimming at Python Pool, head onto Whim Creek, go through historical Cossack and onwards to Point Sampson. You’ll be travelling on both bitumen and some pretty gnarly gravel tracks.

This trip is epic and covers around 1000km of some of the best scenery and trails Australia has to offer.

Point Sampson to Dampier and Burrup Peninsula

Following on from Point Sampson, you will travel through to Karratha and  Dampier. Here you can visit the world’s largest display of rock art at Murujuga on the Dampier Peninsula.

Finally, on the last day, you will be blown away by the beauty of the Burrup Peninsula on a full day cruise of the majestic waters of the Dampier Archipelago.

What’s included

The Red Dog Pilbara Postie Bike Challenge is all-inclusive. With all accommodation, food and side tours included, it gives you time to have a stress-free adventure and enable you to enjoy the magnificent scenery at hand.

We pride ourselves on providing a professional and laid-back adventure to suit and cater for anyone – no matter who you are.

Giving Back

Aside from all the fun, there is a deeper purpose to the tour. We encourage you to raise some money for local charity/community groups as a means of “giving back” to the Pilbara and helping to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.

Please note, the fundraising isn’t mandatory but it’s something we encourage and a great way to make your trip more fulfilling.

For us, the trip is about social enterprise, not about making money. We want to be inclusive of everyone in the Pilbara and build a stronger region by promoting lots of companies. All while making a bit of money for charity on the side.
