Why stay at Scarborough beach WA?

Scarborough beach accommodation

The biggest advantage of staying in Scarborough in Perth is that you have everything you need on your doorstep.

Many of Perth’s coastal suburbs are mostly residential but Scarborough. However, Scarborough Beach WA is its own little hub with plenty of things to see and do in close vicinity. This all means that you don’t have to rely on a car or public transport to get you somewhere – it’s all there for you within walking distance.

Along with one being one of Perth’s best beaches, the Scarborough beachfront has a lively esplanade with cafes and restaurants, picnic areas, playgrounds, nighttime entertainment, and the fantastic weekly sunset markets.

If you do want to venture further afield, Scarborough is easily accessed with public transport and you can get to the city by bus and train in less than 30 minutes.

Scarborough also has easy and convenient transfer options to Perth airport, car and bike rental and tour booking facilities to explore Perth and beyond.

Scarborough Sunset Markets

Scarborough Sunset Markets

The Scarborough Sunset Markets are easily one of the best things that have happened to Perth in the last few years. Food trucks and market stalls take over the esplanade on a weekly basis. There’s a huge selection of international food available and you’ll want to try them all.

The markets are held on Thursday evenings during the summer months. A new winter edition has also just been announced for Saturday afternoons from 3 pm. See here for the latest details.

Rendezvous Hotel Scarborough

The Rendezvous Hotel Scarborough Perth

For Scarborough beachfront accommodation look no further than The Rendezvous Hotel (previously Observations City). The Rendezvous is one of Perth’s most iconic buildings and a relic from Perth’s boom times in the 1980s.

Some people think the hotel is dated but I see her as the grand old dame of Scarborough. There’s a bustling hotel lobby complete with a water feature, piano bar and buffet breakfast. One of the best features is the rooftop pool with a bar which makes for a chilled afternoon, especially when the beach gets windy.

All rooms have private balconies and it’s well worth asking for a room with ocean views to watch those amazing sunsets over the Indian Ocean. You can also upgrade to the Club Room which comes with daily breakfast, drinks and canapes in the evening in the Club Lounge which has some of the best ocean views anywhere in Perth.

Prices for the Rendezvous Scarborough are reasonable if you book in advance.

Seashells Scarborough Apartments

Seashells offer one of the best apartment accommodation options in Scarborough. The apartments are homely with a real holiday feel.

There are one, two and even three-bedroom apartments available with some deluxe options too. Apartments are bright and cozy with awesome beach views from the spacious balcony.

Seashells has two pools, sauna and BBQ area and beach and the esplanade is literally on the doorstep.

Ocean View Apartment

Scarborough Beach Accommodation

This is probably the closest thing to a Scarborough beach resort. This large three-bedroom apartment has two queen size beds and two singles. The facilities at the Ocean View are outstanding. The outdoor resort pool gets my top pick and the indoor lap pool with the hot jacuzzi is the bomb.

There’s also a large gym, sauna and full-size tennis court. The location is second to none, with awesome views of the ocean and on the doorstep of all amenities.

Indian Ocean Hotel

The Indian Ocean Hotel is a good option if you’re looking for Scarborough Beach budget accommodation.

Along with the Rendezvous Hotel, the Indian Ocean Hotel is one of Scarborough’s landmark buildings. From outside the Indian Ocean Hotel is a 1970’s brick bunker, surrounded by the carpark, a single palm tree and a drive-through bottle shop beneath.

The interior is very 1970s with cane furniture, brown bricks and retro carpet. This might sound bad but there’s much going for this Scarborough beach hotel including the very good bar and restaurant downstairs, super friendly staff and continental breakfast.

The Indi also has regular dinner special every day, live music and the bar is a favourite with the locals.

Quest Scarborough Hotel

There’s a Quest Hotel in almost every major town in Australia and they always offer high-quality service and executive style. The Quest hotel is  located about 100 metres from the Scarborough beachfront and among all the cafes, restaurants, shops and supermarket

Accommodation facilities at Quest include studios and one and two-bedroom apartments. Most of the rooms don’t have ocean views but you can request a pool view which is probably the best view. Rooms are spacious and most have a balcony and there’s a nice pool area.

Parking fees apply, check the conditions when you make your booking.

The Quest has well-priced options during school holiday seasons and one of the best places to stay for families in Scarborough Beach. .
